Cape Town audiences are assured of at least seven festival hit productions, which will be presented at the Baxter Theatre; Artscape Theatre; Theatre in the District; and at the HB Thom Theatre in Stellenbosch.
The Baxter Theatre will play host to four of the festival successes. The Market Theatre’s
The Girl in the Yellow Dress, written by Craig Higginson; directed by Malcolm Purkey; and featuring Marianne Oldham (UK) and Nat Ramabulana (SA), will be staged from 29 June to 22 July, with a tour to the UK also on the cards. Lara Foot’s
Karoo Moose, which won a silver
Standard Bank Ovation Award for theatre, will be presented from 27 July to 7 August. The Magnet Theatre Trust’s
Inxeba Lomphilisi (The Wound of a Healer), directed by Mandla Mbothwe and Faniswa Yisa, will be on stage from 27 July to 7 August.
Molly Bloom, adapted by Nicky Rebelo from James Joyce's
Ulysses, will be on later in the year, from 14 September to 9 October.

I, Claudia to the Artscape in Cape Town from 5 to 10 August. Theatre in the District in Cape Town is hosting the inspirational
Soar like an Eagle on 16 and 17 July. The University of Stellenbosch’s hard-hitting production,
Woza Andries? will be playing at the HB Thom in Stellenbosch from 20 to 25 July.
In Johannesburg, the Market Theatre will be hosting the visiting Australian Urban Theatre’s
The Football Diaries, with Ahilan Ratnamohan, on 9 and 10 July. Athol Fugard’s
Hello and Goodbye, starring Michael Maxwell and Dorothy Anne Gould, directed by Mark Graham, will be on stage from 19 July to 22 August. The hilarious
Standard Bank Ovation Award winning
Convincing Carlos, starring Mpho Osei-Tutu and directed by Craig Morris, will be running at the Old Mutual Theatre On the Square in Sandton until 10 July.
The Timekeers, by Dan Clancy, directed by Lee Gilat and starring Roy Horovitz; Pinhas Mittelman; and Omer Etzion, will be playing at the Old Mutual Theatre On the Square from 13 to 24 July.
Random Acts by the Wits University Drama department is on at the With Theatre from 13 to 17 July, and various other
Standard Bank Ovation Award winning Fringe productions will be featured at the
969 Festival at the Wits Theatre from 1 to 30 September.
The puppets from
The Giant Match will be performing at the closing match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup at Soccer City on 11 July, and will be making their first international appearance on 13 and 14 July in Rwanda.
Man of La Mancha is going to the Catalina Theatre in Durban from 22 July to 1 August. Various Fringe productions will also be making their way to the
Witness Hilton Arts Festival in KZN, from 17 to 19 September.
The 2011
National Arts Festival will run from 30 June to 9 July. The Festival is committed to supporting sustainable opportunities for artists to perform throughout the year.
