In response to the continuing developments of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in South Africa, and following recent announcements from the government, the ACA has indicated that it aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all involved by postponing all Effie Awards South Africa related events.

According to the ACA, these are difficult and uncertain times for our industry, our country and the world. "While we have prepared a new calendar for the awards, we remain cognisant of the fact that further changes and plans may need to be instituted, should the virus pandemic cause further disruptions to all our lives," says the team at the ACA.

The shift in dates will, according to the event, result in an extended entry period and new judging dates.

The revised dates are as follows:
  • Early bird deadline: Tuesday, 5 May
  • On-time deadline: Thursday, 18 June
  • Last minute deadline: Thursday, 9 July
  • Round 1: Thursday, 6 Aug
  • Round 2/Final round: Thursday, 27 Aug
  • Effie Summit: Wednesday, 7 October
  • Effie Gala: Thursday, 8 October
The ACA has indicated that its focus now falls on planning in accordance with the new calendar of events and aims to remain fully committed to celebrating and awarding effectiveness in marketing and communications.

"We will continue to keep abreast of all developments and updates, adhering to all appeals from the South African Government as we face these unprecedented challenges together," says the ACA team.

"We have trust and confidence in South Africa's government and experienced health care professionals to ensure that the effects of the pandemic are limited. We will keep you informed of any further updates as may become necessary in the coming weeks," concludes the team.
