The second season of SABC1"s show A Place Called Home starts on Wednesday, 3 September at 20:30.

The series is based in Johannesburg, affectionately known as Jozi - the city that’s much more than its buildings, which merely provide the backdrop. Johannesburg is known worldwide as "the city paved with gold".

People from all over the country and beyond the border converge here in search of the city’s wealth, in the hope of it leading them to a better life. Some succeed and some don’t. This is the story of these people.

Homeless people, on the other hand, face a very different, harsh reality of the city. They have been displaced, harassed and abused, and find out very quickly and painfully that the streets are not what they thought they would be. But this is not a depressing series about the trials and tribulations of displaced people - there are many other characters with whom the main characters interact: lovers, family, employers and friends; through which we see many different sides of the city.

The series will not show hopeless characters living in the street, rather enthusiastic and positive characters living in the city.

The cast list includes: Thomas Gumede as Siphiwe; Bubu Mazibuko as Mihloti; Ronnie Nyakale as Sylvester; Tango Ncetezo as Lindiwe; Lucky Khoza as Ndumiso; Zikhona Sodlaka as Palesa; Siyabonga Shibe as Thami; Linda Sokhulu as Clara; Domanic Fundham as Vusi; Siyabonga Radebe as Cassius; Jabulani Kente as Tinyiko; and Obed Baloyi as Blue.
