Nu Metro Cinemas open a self-service confectionery counter

Nu Metro Cinemas is to open a self-service confectionery counter at its Monte Casino theatre to ensure the convenient cinema experience, where movie goers can help themselves to Popcorn, 500ml cold drinks as well as sweets and pay at a till point at the exit. This initiative was launched in December 2010 and is a first for the Cinema industry in South Africa and exclusive to Nu Metro Cinemas.
Feedback from consumers has been overwhelmingly positive with most feeling that the self-service option experience is faster, more convenient and stress-free as opposed to the frustration of the often long queues.
“Nu Metro Cinemas’ is always looking at ways to be even ‘more entertaining’,” commented General Manager of Nu Metro Cinemas’, Danie van der Merwe. “We are committed to coming up with more innovative, customer-centric initiatives and will continue to build on our reputation as an industry trendsetter,” said van der Merwe.
Nu Metro Cinemas is looking to expand these Self-Service confectionery counters in the bigger sites in Cape Town, Pretoria and KwaZulu Natal in the near future.
