Dr Jaco Deacon, deputy CEO of the Federation of Governing Bodies of South African Schools, originally launched the campaign at the beginning of the year.

The campaign aims to get learners in South Africa to tell their own story about what makes them different from their friends and acquaintances, and also how being a diverse group has a positive impact on everyone involved.

"Let’s celebrate diversity in our schools this year. Instead of focusing on racism and negativity, let’s rather celebrate the wonderful country and diverse people we have. We do what we do because we love our children, we love our schools and we love our country. Let’s focus on the positive aspects of being different," says Dr Deacon.

Individuals can participate in the '#LekkeDifferent' campaign by posting a photo or video on their Instagram or Facebook page and by telling their story about what it is that makes them unique. Posts need to include the '#LekkeAnders' or '#LekkeDifferent' hashtags along with the @FEDSAS and @LekkeDifferent tags.

You can follow '#LekkeDifferent' on Facebook or on Instagram.
