Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year for businesses to appeal to their audiences on social media. Why?
Well, according to a 2022 study performed by
Deloitte, up to 56% of millennials and 60% of Gen Zs are logging onto their social media platforms to do their holiday shopping this gift-giving season.
So, this is the perfect opportunity for brands to jump onto the e-commerce sleigh and convince their followers that
their offerings will be the ideal presents for loved ones.
This season also gives businesses the chance to show off their personalities by creating posts with a festive finesse that their followers will appreciate.
Not quite sure how to jolly up your content this December?
You better not pout, because media update's Lara Smit is going to town with some fun festive ideas for your content right here:
1. Use colourful Christmas visuals and copy
Visuals Creating Christmas-themed visuals can be quite a tricky process. Content creators have to master the balance between decorating their images with charming festive accents and getting completely carried away with their jollification. By mastering this, you will ensure your designs look professional while still showing off your merry side.
One of the easiest ways to bring a festive feel to your images without being too outrageous is by subtly incorporating the vibrant colours we've come to associate with this time of year like:
- green
- gold
- white, and
- of course ol’ Saint Nick’s favourite — red.
Add in a (simple) sticker or two for some fun and a complimentary caption.
Copy'Tis the season to be cheesy! Since Christmas is a time for celebrating and connecting with loved ones, copywriters can get away with a holiday pun and a dad joke or two (as long as they aren’t anything like the cringey ones we find in the Christmas crackers).
Get creative with a few Christmas terms and find a way to tie your copy to your offerings. For example, if your products could be great stocking stuffers, then be sure to tell your followers.
2. Show them what your elves have been getting up to
At the end of the year, audiences are looking for some good wholesome content that will give them the warm festive fuzzies.
So give them some behind-the-scenes glimpses into how your business has been celebrating the holidays and preparing for the festive season with a few
Instagram Reels and Facebook Live videos.
This will make your followers feel as though they are a part of the celebrations. What's more is this positive insight into your business's office culture will allow audiences to see that your brand’s values are in the right place.
This also makes them feel like they've made the right investment when purchasing from your company.
3. Get into the spirit of giving
With all the presents piling up under the tree, festive shoppers are looking for ways to get more jolly for their walley's. So, it's time to dust off your Santa suits and give your good followers what they want most by hosting social media competitions.
This will not only help you spread the Christmas cheer, but it also gives you the
perfect opportunity to have audiences engage with your brand. Additionally, competitions are a fantastic way to get followers involved in creating content for your business and spreading the word about your offerings further than the North Pole.
Make your followers even merrier by running some celebratory specials and advertising them in your posts. This will be sure to get their bells ringing!
