Magoro shares a little about himself: “My first few years of primary education were in Lenyenye, Tzaneen with my two older brothers and my mother who worked as nurse for Dr Mampela Rampele. We then moved to Johannesburg and joined my father. In the mid 80s, while studying at Thabo high school in Naledi Soweto I got involved with a political student body that also did cultural events. This is where I first tasted stage as a performer; my role was playing a soldier of the old South African regime. While performing the real soldiers pounced on us and some of my colleagues were detained.”

Magoro studied drama at Fuba Academy for three years and later a one year part time course with Market Theatre Lab. A highlight of his career was playing Sgt Spikiri in a stage play at a school drama festival where he got his first standing ovation. His most memorable achievement is his involvement as a story developer, crew member and performer in the movie, Gomora Hustle.

“My inspiration is my mother; she taught me to believe in myself and persevere. When I first told my parents about my ambitions of being a performer my old man wasn't thrilled, he wanted me to become a lawyer, my mother managed to persuade him otherwise and he allowed me to continue with my studies. I hope one day to also fulfil my father’s wish.”

Magoro’s favourite music is South-African Gospel. He is co-founder of a gospel group in Lenyenye called Barorisi ba lentswe. He enjoys comedy and recently played the role of Vusi in Skeem. He says he is fortunate to have worked with some of his favourite actors, Lydia Mokgokoloshi, Shoki Sebotsane, Africa Tsoai, Harriet Manamela and John Morapama in Skeem Saam. His recent favourite TV show is S'Gidla Waar and he loves stand up comedy specifically comedians Trevor Noah, Steve Harvey and David Kau.

In Magoro’s leisure time he does a bit of reading, writing his own scripts, and watching movies with his wife, Pat and their daughter. He hopes that one day he will be blessed with a son and wants to teach drama to the youth.

He is working on an untitled comedy series. He says, “In Alex where I stay there are a number of very talented unknown actors who I believe will do justice to the script if given a chance. It's my wish to perform in it as well. I hope in the near future that independent production houses are given a bigger platform to show case their work and build job creation for upcoming artists.” The next big thing for Magoro is “the making of the Gomora Hustle sequel”.
