Distributed by DCD Rights, the lifestyle, culinary series starring author and blogger, Sarah Graham, is an exploration of food the way it should be enjoyed – simple, unintimidating, and shared with the people we love. This is an approach that obviously resonates with viewers as the award follows hot on the heels of the series’ recent sale internationally.

Location producer, Mike Alves believes that the key to the series’ success was the extensive planning that was undertaken. “Sarah Graham Cooks Cape Town will go down in Okuhle Media’s history books as one of the smoothest running productions we’ve ever had the privilege of working on,” she said. “An intensive pre-production period coupled with a carefully handpicked production team resulted in a shoot that flowed smoothly and the results speak for themselves.”

Executive director of Production and Development, Louise McClelland, who was unfortunately unable to join the team in their celebrations as she is currently at MIPTV in Cannes said, “This is fantastic news. I am so proud of the team and their win at the SAFTAs. We are flying the flag here in Cannes where Bitten: Sarah Graham Cooks Cape Town became a reality two years ago. The award is a tribute to an incredible team whose tenacity, determination, faith and excellent production skill resulted in a series of exceptional quality.”

A second season of Sarah Graham’s Food Safari, is set to go into production in 2014 and will also be distributed by DCD rights. Set against an African backdrop, it promises to continue Graham’s food story taking the viewer from the heart of Cape Town, across Southern Africa and into the wide open bushveld of Zimbabwe.

“I have no doubt that Season 2, set for broadcast in October of this year, will continue to delight viewers. There are some very exciting developments in the pipeline and I am looking forward to seeing it come to life,” concluded McClelland.
