Officially opening to the public on Thursday, 28 August, Brewers Lane will be one of the event highlights where malt fanatics will be able to sample, buy and enjoy the finest beer South Africa’s craft beer makers have to offer. Brew masters will inspire all with their in-depth beer knowledge while guests will be able to try their hand at making beer by purchasing their very-own kits to take home.

Craft breweries exhibiting include Chameleon Breweries, Smack Republic Breweries and Windernere Breweries, to name but a few. Brewers Lane will open to the great Beer House aka “Dad’s Spot” where sports fans and music lovers will be entertained for hours. Screens will be placed strategically throughout the festival where avid rugby supporters will be able to watch their favourite game. Enjoy a variety of food and drink in the biggest Beerhouse in town where big bands will be entertaining visitors with music such as laid back jazz, blue grass, country, reggae and rock.

Here are three bubbly facts that one didn’t know about South Africa’s love for beer:

- South Africa accounts for 34% of Africa’s formal beer market, and, it is expected to grow by 10% annually over the next five years;
- Most beer consumed in South Africa is lager; and
- There is a large trend in the home-brewing community throughout the country. Homebrewers meet on a monthly basis to discuss brewing techniques and the like and now can beer fans can meet at Brewers Lane at the Emperors Food Festival.

The festival will present a fusion of culinary experiences and sensory delights created for those who want to escape to Eden for a day. Tickets for the festival are R80 per person with complimentary entry for children under the age of 12. Amusement park rides are R25 per ride. The festival will be open on Thursday, 28 and Friday, 29 August from 16:00 to 22:30; Saturday, 30 August from 11:00 to 22:30; and on Sunday, 31 August from 10:00 to 18:00.
