Each year the fair showcases the best of local and international style, selling everything from adults and children’s clothing, fashion accessories and jewellery, to handmade toys, ceramics, linen, decadent Christmas cakes and puddings, alongside delicious eats and treats; and of course those extra special stocking fillers. This year, the fair boasts over 78 different stalls.
Rarely seen by the public, this is an opportunity to admire the panelled rooms and ancient banners of the Order of St John while shopping for gifts which have travelled from as far afield as the Cape and Natal. The aim of the organisers is to showcase new and unusual gifts, as well some firm favourites such as Liz Wood’s famous Christmas cakes, leather belts from the Argentine, and towelling kikois from Kenya.
Visitors to the fair will be able to enjoy the magnificent gardens overlooking the treed suburbs of Westcliff, Parkview, Zoo Lake and beyond. Whether it’s a lazy lunch you’re after or rather just a ‘spot’ of tea and cake, the Food Marquee will offer everything from gourmet burgers and delicious cocktails and wine to more traditional tea and sweet treats.
