When a business or brand decides to create a social media page, it needs to have a content strategy in place — especially if it doesn't have someone who is running its platforms for it.

Brands could post whatever they want, but it won't help the business if there isn't a balance in the type of content being posted. So, how do you do this?

Read on as media update's Saads Abrahams breaks down what type of content every business should be posting on its social media pages.

Educate

Create posts that help educate and inform your viewers.

Think of fun ways to educate your audience. For example, if you sell a protein powder, create video content on recipes that use your protein powder.

Create posts like:

  • Q&As

  • How-tos

  • Infographics, and

  • niche-specific myth busters.

Instagram

Entertain

Most people hop on to social media for entertainment — so entertain them

Create fun posts that still fit your industry. If done correctly, these types of posts are sure to get engagement from your audience.

To entertain, make use of:

  • memes

  • storytelling

  • trending videos (if they can be applied), and

  • posts with humour.

Instagram

Inspire

Social media platforms are a great place for people to find inspiration — so let your page be one of them.

Creating positive posts that inspire is a great way to grow your following and engagement.

Create posts such as:

  • motivational quotes

  • before and afters, and

  • personal stories.

Instagram

Sell

And finally, because it is a business after all — sell

Create posts that:

  • market your business

  • tell your viewers what your brand does

  • justify why it's better, and

  • explain why viewers should support your brand above others.

This can be done through:

  • testimonials

  • statistics, and

  • promotional posts.
