Jury member Piper Hickman, executive creative director at McKinney has shared her excitement about judging the Gerety Awards, emphasising her desire to experience a diverse range of global work that pushes creative boundaries.
Hickman says, "Exposure to global work that I might not otherwise see — that's what I'm most looking forward to when it comes to judging the Gerety Awards. I can't wait to step out of all the algorithms that dictate what I'm exposed to and immerse myself in a world of novelty and hopefully mind-blowing creativity."
Eurydice Gysel, managing partner and executive producer at Czar, Brussels, has expressed her criteria for judging films, highlighting the importance of:
- humour
- the relevance of having the director's personal and unique touch, and
- emotional depth.
Gysel says, "I'm looking for films who make me laugh, films with a director's signature on it. Films that surprise me and make me realise that commercials can be much more than an image and a message. I'm looking for films with deep emotions. Films with an exceptional imagery. Everyone can copy pictures and put them together but seldom they make a great movie. I'm looking for those great movies."
The awards conclude that the global shortlist along with Agency and Production company of the year by country winners will be celebrated at the BBQ in Cannes. The guest list is already open and individuals can RSVP here.
The 2024 Gerety Awards final deadline is Friday, 10 May.
