In July 2011 the first Fairtrade certified Cadbury Dairy Milk Plain chocolate bars were unpacked onto retail shelves across South Africa. This in turn gave Cadbury’s customers the power to multiply the joy in the lives of farmers by merely choosing their favourite chocolate treat. The South African sweet tooth has resulted in over R12 850 000 in Fairtrade Development Premium being paid over to African cocoa and sugar farmers.
To celebrate this milestone, Fairtrade SA is asking consumers to take to social media and join local foodies and celebrities in sharing their favourite Cadbury Dairy Milk moment using the #CadburySAFairtrade5 hashtag.
It could be sneaking a chocolate bar into the cinema, melting it over a surprise birthday cake, or using it as an irresistible token to steal a Valentine’s heart - there is no doubt - the most loved chocolate brand in SA holds a special place in the hearts of many South Africans - young and old.
