Based in the company’s Cape Town office in Capricorn Park, South Africa, Walker will manage all naval and maritime client portfolios, overseeing stakeholder needs and maintaining relationships with clients in the region.
Walker joined Saab in January after serving as a combat officer in the South African Navy (SAN) for 23 years. He held various appointments at sea and ashore, including a promotion to the rank of Captain SAN.
His final appointment in the SAN was as the senior staff officer above water warfare on the staff of director Maritime Warfare at the SAN headquarters. In this role, he was responsible for the surface warfare, patrol and combat support capabilities from a policy and doctrine perspective. He was also appointed as the SAN technology manager.
Walker says his time in the navy was a once in a lifetime adventure that has moulded and shaped him into the individual he is today.
"I look forward to forging stronger relationships with the navies and maritime industries within sub-Saharan Africa, using my naval experience to identify and serve the region’s requirements while providing naval and maritime security solutions through effective collaboration at all levels," Walker adds.
