The One Club says that the mission of the programme — which typically receives entries from upwards of 45 countries — is to celebrate filmmakers working in both the film and ad industries, with no limitation and total artistic freedom, all on one screen.

The global ONE Screen 2024 has a tiered pricing structure based on entry deadlines, which makes the competition affordable even for freelancers and small independents, says the festival.

The tickets are USD$60 for entries received by Monday, 30 September for the early deadline. Tickets are USD$70 until Monday, 7 October for the regular deadline and will be USD$85 until Monday, 14 October for the extended deadline.

According to the One Club, the fast-growing festival recognises numerous forms and aspects of short films, including:

  • narrative fiction
  • comedy
  • passion projects
  • commercials
  • branded content
  • music videos
  • spec work
  • animation
  • sound design
  • movie poster design, and
  • title sequences.

The One Club says that entries are judged by a jury of leading film directors, producers, ad agency creatives and heads of production companies — all to be announced shortly.

Winners will be unveiled at the ONE Screen Short Film Festival ceremony and screening in February 2025.

'Answer Me', created by Banana Balloon Shenzhen on behalf of Tencent Sustainable Social Value, was the top winner in the 2023 ONE Screen competition. The short film was named Best of Show, Best of Region-Asia Pacific and was awarded three Craft awards — one each in:

  • Screenplay
  • Directing, and
  • Casting
