The conference will cover integrated marketing and supply chain issues, providing concrete examples of how other companies have implemented such strategies, says Irene Gregory, CEO of the IMM Institute.

With marketing being a key driver of creating demand for products, it is essential to bring suppliers on board to ensure they can fulfil product orders in a timely manner to meet increasing demand, says the IMM.

To do this, it's vital that marketing and supply chain operate in tandem and that there are no silos, while also making certain that all practices are above reproach when it comes to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues, says the institute.

All marketing and supply chain professionals will benefit from the conference, with the theme of 'Fusion of Functions', which will cover various aspects of how the various marketing functions can integrate with each aspect of the supply chain to benefit all stakeholders, says Gregory.

Partnering for people, prosperity and the planet means going above and beyond traditional marketing and ensuring that a brand is authentic in the digital world, as well as being in tune with people and their needs and wants. Gregory says, "If a brand were to be a person, we would say that it needs to be able to read the room."

Gregory adds, "In a changing environment, it is important to ensure that brands evolve for a modern audience, and this includes meeting the demands of consumers where they are, as well as ensuring that a brand shows up as being unimpeachable when it comes to the circular economy."

This is why the IMM is also casting a wide net for speakers to join panel discussions at the conference.

"We believe in not just giving a voice to the brightest, most creative, minds, but also having a diversity of views, which aids the industry in moving forward," says Gregory.

According to the IMM, marketing and supply chain professionals who are at the top of their game in various areas will be honoured at the IMM Excellence Awards dinner following the conference on the evening of Thursday, 17 October.

The IMM says that these professionals include:

  • those who have dedicated their lives to the industry
  • those who have displayed thought leadership and commitment to their industry
  • those who are emerging in their field, and
  • those who are studying.

"We recognise that there are outstanding people in this industry who commit to its growth and innovation, and there needs to be recognition of their achievements," concludes Gregory.
