Corona Cero, a no-alcohol beer brand, has announced a new four-year partnership with the World Surf League. This marks the league's first-ever global partnership with a no-alcohol beer brand, building on its previous eight-year partnership with Corona.
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the World Surf League through Corona Cero as the official beer sponsor," says Melanie Nicholson, Head of Brand at Corona South Africa.
"This milestone follows our incredible journey with Corona Cero's presence at the 2024 Olympics, where the brand made a strong impact in the world of sports. We are especially excited for the upcoming Corona Cero Open J-Bay, taking place from Friday, 11 July to Sunday, 20 July, a fantastic opportunity to connect with our South African audience, embracing the laid-back, outdoor lifestyle we all enjoy," Nicholson adds.
Kicking off with the MEO Rip Curl Pro in Portugal, presented by Corona Cero, surfers and fans of legal drinking age will have the chance to enjoy Corona Cero during the surfing action, Corona Cero adds.
During the World Surf League Championship Tour, Corona Cero says that it will be integrated throughout most of the World Surf League's premier events, delivering broadcast innovations, digital content and activations designed to bring fans closer to the action.
The brand adds that it will also implement its Relaxation Clause in all World Surf League athlete contracts, a commitment Corona launched in 2024 that ensures all its partnered athletes have time dedicated to relax and unwind as part of their contracts.
"We're thrilled to expand our ongoing global partnership with Corona and to welcome Corona Cero to the World Surf League. We celebrate the addition of Corona Cero to the Tour, and their ongoing support of professional surfing," says Ryan Crosby, World Surf League CEO.
"Together, we share a passion for the beach, adventure and sustainability. This relationship touches all aspects of the sport and our shared athletes. We look forward to continuing this global partnership for years to come," Crosby concludes.
