Oneplan does not require clients to get pre-authorisation or make a prepayment for hospitalisation, a doctor’s appointment or medical specialists. Instead they offer prepayment on a OneCard MasterCard. Before visiting the medical practitioner Oneplan credits clients with the consultation fee.

The most innovative part of it all is that transactions and dealings are done via mobile phone. Clients request prepayment onto their card ahead of their appointment and are then credited.

Oneplan has a unique social media approach that ensures engagement with the community and clients alike. Instead of simply providing the usual health insurance company tools for client communication, they have made sure that the client has a personalised and enriching experience online.

Oneplan introduced their progressive and educational health care initiative to the public this month. The Oneplan Health Insurance Facebook page has and will play host to a variety of medical experts. Q&A sessions have been organised via this social media platform, giving clients the opportunity to get free medical advice from professionals online. The first doctor to be a part of the communication platform was Dr David Illos. On Wednesday, 25 March, he took to the Oneplan Facebook page to answer medical related questions.

Oneplan says this reflects the power of social media. It is no longer a platform for simply ‘selling’ and for shameless self-promotion, it can also be used as an educational tool – a way to truly communicate with clients, potential clients and the public in general.

There are plans for this health care initiative to grow, with dieticians, dentists and gynaecologists ready to take to the Oneplan social media sphere.
