The launch took place at a glittering gala dinner in Bloemfontein and was attended by various stakeholders, including, Free State Premier Ace Magashule, business, government officials, senior SABC executives and media.

Lesedi FM station manager Dirara Mokoena says, “When people see the logo, we want them to feel a strong sense of affinity towards the brand. We want to create a sense of pride, ownership and belonging. We want them to feel empowered by the station that understands who they are, where they come from and where they are going. As a brand that exists in the lives of our listeners each and every day, we need to keep up with the changes as demanded by our listeners.’

The current Lesedi FM new look is deeply rooted, fresh, relevant and contemporary. When unveiling the logo, the SABC COO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng used the opportunity to encourage the station to continue as in the past, to unearth local music talent.

SABC recently made a much lauded ground breaking decision to play 90% local music in all its 18 Radio Stations. Premier Magashule congratulated the public broadcaster for introducing changes that impact positively on people’s lives.
