The Johannesburg-born DJ, whose real name is Lutendo Kungoane, aims to deliver a high-energy offering. Juggling between his deejaying and studio schedules has been the order of the day for the past year as he embarked on the project.

The album features award-winning artists such as AKA, Riky Rick, Shekhinah Donnell, Kwesta, Da Les, Ma E, JR, Yanga, Shane Eagle, and many others.

“The idea was not to pack the album with stars, but to use a formula that exploits the artists' true qualities, which is sustainable within the genre. I have incorporated colleagues that I know love their craft and are ground-breakers,” he says.

In the advent of the trending trap sound, DJ Slique has cooked up his album as a full course meal to cater for all music fans. DJ Slique says that he uses his music to unify the youth through messages of hope, success, and self-reliance.

“It cannot always be about club scene because I feel it is important to deliberate on current youth issues and play my role as an agent of change.” he says.

DJ Slique took to social media with a teaser for fans, announcing he can’t wait to drop the artwork and tracklist of the album as the title and release date has not yet been published. He also dropped a couple of songs from the upcoming album on a mix he played on Touch Central, which goes live every Friday between 18:00 and 20:00.

The album pre-order is available from Friday, 7 October, along with the first single off the album titled Bay 2 featuring AKA, Yanga & JR. Injayam Vol.1 will have its worldwide release on Friday, 14 October.
