Bongani joined the station in 2015 and has been working closely with the station’s talent development manager, Tumelo Diaho-Monaheng.
East Coast Radio’s programming manager, Zane Derbyshire, says, "Having seen him grow and develop as a presenter on the station, now ready to take over one of our flagship shows is a testament to the work we put into developing our talent. Bongani is a born entertainer, and having him on the drive home with Mags by his side, with G-Dawg and Rory completing the line-up, we are sure that very soon this will be KZN’s favourite way to get home."
Bongani adds, "Our show is going to be light-hearted and fun, but we’ll keep things exciting and always involve our listeners."
East Coast Drive with Bongani and Mags will include G-Dawg as sports presenter and Rory Petzer as producer. Van der Westhuizen adds, "Such diverse characters are each going to bring a unique outlook on the world of radio, and I feel honoured to be a part of this team."
East Coast Drive with Bongani and Mags will broadcast from Mondays to Fridays between 15:00 and 18:00.
