Entrants were asked, with the permission of their parents, to motivate why they should be selected for the opportunity. Ten-year-old Siyabonga Radebe from Soweto was the winner and, together with eleven of his friends, spent the day with Lucas, learning tips and being put through their paces – from defending tactics to ball passes. Siyabonga and his team are now a part of a series of new Disney XD channel shorts, which document the day’s activities.
The shorts will coincide with new episodes of the 11, which features Gabo, a 16-year-old boy who lived with his grandmother Amelia in a town called Álamo Seco in Argentina before being scouted to play for a sport-orientated school.
He leaves home to live and study at the academy, where he’s discovering truths about his family’s history and leading his team to beat rivals.
Audiences can watch Siyabonga and Lucas, as well as new episodes of 11, on Disney XD at 16:50 each weekday on DStv Channel 304.
