Members will be invited to vote on the proposed resolution to change the MOI to state that EXSA will, with immediate effect, conduct its services and support on behalf of suppliers and venues only.
Being a supplier and venue driven association will mean that these sectors needs are fully addressed by the industry body. All current organiser members would then need to find support for their specific business interests within associations such as AAXO and SACCI.
This follows international trends within similar industries and, also, the sector's needs within each association, which will aim to be specifically focused and addressed.
"We believe that this change will both strengthen and streamline what the association can offer its members. It will certainly provide a stable base from within which suppliers and venues can operate their businesses. The continuation of inter-association collaboration, where beneficial to the industry as a whole, would also continue to be a key focus," says Doug Rix, current chair of the EXSA Suppliers Forum.
The special general meeting will take place at 14:30 for 15:00 on Thursday, 21 September at The Sandton Sun Hotel, in Business Suite 6, and a networking cocktail will follow in Business Suite 7 at the Sandton Sun Hotel. Only members in financial standing with EXSA will be permitted to participate in the process.
