This means that South African fans will have the opportunity to see the film first at a special early screening, before the movie’s official global release date of Friday, 15 December.
Nu Metro opened Africa’s first ever 4DX theatre at Nu Metro V&A Waterfront with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in December 2015. South Africa now has six 4DX cinemas nationwide, exclusive to Nu Metro. The release of the sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, in 4DX at Nu Metro marks the cinema brand’s second anniversary on local shores.
In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the adventure that unlocks mysteries of the Force and revelations of the past.
The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio Del Toro.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy. Ram Bergman. J.J. Abrams, Tom Karnowski, and Jason McGatlin are the executive producers.
4DX features full-length movies in live action that aims to stimulate the senses using motion seats and environmental effects including wind, fog, lightning, water, scents, and more. These effects are synced with the action on-screen – only at Nu Metro.
Audiences can find 4DX at Nu Metro V&A Waterfront (Cape Town), The Pavilion (Durban), Menlyn Park (Pretoria), Hyde Park Corner (Johannesburg), Emperors Palace (Johannesburg), and the recently opened Cornubia Mall (Umhlanga/Mount Edgecombe).
Nu Metro’s Xtreme cinemas combine large format screens, 360-degree sound, along with recliner seating, advanced RealD™ “Precision White Screen” (PWS) digital projection technology (aiming to ensure brighter, crisper visuals on-screen), and 4K high definition visuals.
Sound in Xtreme cinemas includes overhead speakers and an array of speakers placed throughout the cinema. Dolby Atmos aims to deliver full all-around sound in the Xtreme cinemas at Nu Metro; sound objects can be moved around in 3D space.
Audiences can find Xtreme at Nu Metro Clearwater Mall (Jhb), Menlyn Park (Pta), The Glen (Jhb), Canal Walk (CT), Ballito Junction (KZN North Coast), and the recently opened Cornubia Mall (Umhlanga/Mount Edgecombe).
