Kumona, who is the current online editor for
GQ South Africa, will take over carrying the torch from Nkosiyati Khumalo (Yati), who has been at the helm of South Africa's premier men's lifestyle publication since July 2017. Khumalo joined the company in January 2012.

As the new face of
GQ South Africa, Kumona will be tasked with moving the brand's editorial vision forward. Kumona has a BA media studies degree from Open University, a marketing and media diploma, as well as several digital marketing qualifications.
He has over a decade of experience in the publishing industry and some of his previous roles include the following:
- head of digital and online editor at Condé Nast South Africa
- online editor at DRUM magazine (Media24)
- deputy digital editor / online content producer at DRUM magazine (Media24), and
- digital community manager for South Africa and Nigeria at WeChat Africa (Tencent Africa).
Kumona says, "For over two decades,
GQ South Africa has been the number one expert for everything men's lifestyle. In my new role as editor-in-chief, I look forward to continuing this legacy, as well as unearthing some exciting new things as we move along."
