"We are celebrating five years of providing content that is in tune with our listeners all over the province," says Tebogo Pooe, chairperson of Motswako Media Group, the company that owns You FM.

"The station is operating in an ever-changing environment where people are constantly reevaluating the quality and pace of life daily, sticking to what works and staying ahead of trends is what keeps us relevant to our listeners," adds Pooe.

Returning to the station is veteran radio presenter Malik 'Pat Cash' Maloyi, who rejoined the station to present Life and Money, a weekly business and lifestyle show that will air between 19:00 and 21:00 weekly. The interactive slot focuses on lifestyle content and money matters such as investment tips, ways of managing finances, as well as entrepreneurship, says the station.

Pat Cash is also hosting the Weekend breakfast slot between 06:00 and 10:00 on both Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday slot is a lifestyle show, and the Sunday focuses on inspiring and uplifting listeners to tackle the week ahead, the station adds.

Respected radio presenter Vincent Maseko returned to the station to host You at Dawn on weekdays. He will connect with his listeners between 01:00 and 05:00 every morning. Maseko is one of the legendary radio presenters who carries a wealth of knowledge about the province’s rich broadcast industry, according to the station.

Talented radio host Khuso 'Vibe' Mamabolo also made his way back to the station to build up on the growing weekend lineup. He presents:

  • the Party Starter, every Friday between 22:00 and 02:00
  • Old Skool Hangout between 14:00 and 18:00 on Saturdays, and 
  • the Purple Soul Train between 18:00 and 22:00 on Sundays.

The Purple Soul Train takes a fresh turn with Khutso 'Vibe' Mamabolo, Sweetness Motsepe and Pelo Modiga in the driving seat. The Sunday block offering is hosted by Sweetness on Sundays between 10:00 and 14:00 and Pelo between 14:00 and 18:00.

In line with the station's plan to grow talent, fresh talent was introduced to the lineup. Morena Matsena, Kabelo Sathekge and Jomo 'Katlego' Monama, who previously served as stand-in presenters are now part of the line-up, says the station.

Jomo presents the party music show on Saturday between 22:00 and 02:00. You at Dawn will gain fresh momentum with Morena driving the 02:00 and 06:00 on Sunday while Kabelo hosts the 02:00 and 05:00 slot on Monday mornings.

You FM wishes to thank all those who were part of the station in 2023 well with their future endeavors as they leave to pursue other opportunities. The line-up is focussed on ensuring that fresh talent finds a space to flourish and be strengthened by veteran broadcasters who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in broadcasting. 

The station concludes that this line-up will reaffirm the relationships between You FM and its listeners and is part of the 2024 theme focussed on taking things back to basics.
