To some, Garfield is an orange cat with a totally justifiable love for lasagne and a desire to do as little as possible. To us, Garfield is a piece of history. The lazy cat is the object of one of the most famous cartoon strips ever! We want to celebrate his contribution to media and journalism.
Some of our favourite quotes like, "I hate Mondays" and, "I'm not messy. I'm organisationally challenged!" come from a cat — if you can believe it.
We grew up with Garfield just always being there to make us chuckle and smile. And even now, with people not really reaching for newspapers anymore, you will still be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't know who Garfield is.
With the newest film coming out, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and find out where this opinionated cat got his start and how he contributed to media and journalism.
Get the lasagne and chocolate milk ready, because media update's Alrika Möller is telling the story of Garfield.
