News photos can be fascinating. It's as if some of them just have that it factor. It might be the photographers' raw talent, but maybe they are just following a few rules to ensure that their photos are intriguing. media update's Joreke Kleynhans explains what makes a good news photo in this infographic.
A good news photo is an amalgamation of best practices and photography techniques that make people want to look at a picture.
These can include the photo's composition, lighting, angles, subject identification, or the fact that the photographer followed the rule of threes.
Every good photo cannot be a news photo, though. News photos have an additional set of requirements to ensure that they earn their spot on the page.
