The collaboration, driven by French for New, will see 5FM join forces with Soundset Sundays in delivering seven events from October 2025 to April 2026 — transforming venues across Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Gqeberha into events for music, community, culinary treats and creativity, as well as on-air ticket giveaways, says 5FM.
Soundset Sunday has become the central get-together for the new generation of youth, which is tailored to 5FM's audiences, adds the radio station.
"This partnership is a perfect fit for us, especially in a year where we're turning five decades bold," says Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM. "5FM is youth, 'Ampli5d'. It's a station that spins the decks that the youth of SA move to, and Soundset Sundays is exactly where that energy lives. It's about music, connection, co-creation of culture and, most importantly, making memories that'll last a lifetime."
With live performances by top acts, activations and presenter appearances, the collaboration is profound — giving listeners access to cultural movements and events the country has to offer.
Soundset Sundays, 'Ampli5d' by 5FM, will start on Sunday, 12 October in Cape Town at Parkview Event Space, Woodstock and will then be heading to the following cities:
- 9 November 2025 — Johannesburg
- 7 December 2025 — Durban
- 14 December 2025 — Johannesburg
- 8 February 2026 — Johannesburg
- 8 March 2026 — Gqeberha
- 12 April 2026 — Johannesburg
Venues will be revealed on-air, on the 5FM app, online and across all social media channels.
