The new season introduces the new anchor, James Steyn, who will be co-hosting the show along side the longest serving presenter Ntokozo Mbuli. Steyn’s knowledge of environmental issues dates back to when he joined the conservation and game lodge in 1994, also serving as executive member and chairpreson of the lowveld region of the Field Guides Association of South Africa.

For the past 30 years, the show has successfully highlighted the balance between humans and nature, and aiding in making wildlife, conservation and the environment top of mind of South Africans nationally.

In recent years the programme has seen a major transformation moving from being a dominant Afrikaans viewers’ choice to cater for South Africans of all races, thus introducing diverse languages, through diverse content issues.

With the celebration of a 30 year milestone, viewers can expect more enhancing wildlife and conservation stories, continuing to investigate issues that are detrimental to our wildlife and environment. 50/50 has in past episodes exposed cruelty to animals and poaching of Rhinos.

The award winning programme is rated as being amongst the world’s top environmental shows, contributing to educating the viewers on the importance of nature conservation, making the show the recipient of 2011 and 2012 SAB Environmental Media awards.

In 2010, 50/50 won the SAFTAS awards for best magazine programme and best presenter awarded to former presenter, Johan Botha.

The show hosts will be joined by field and segment presenters, enlightening the viewers with more hard-hitting, informative and educational stories.

50/50 will air from Monday, 26 August at 19:30 on SABC2.
