After Matric, Biyela registered with the Durban University of Technology and completed a Diploma in Marketing. From there she got her first job as HR officer at the Department of Health in 2001. She then moved on to become project secretary in the Umkhanyakude District at Bigen Africa, after which she joined British American Tobacco as a consumer relations amplifier. She was then promoted to become retail ambassador for the same company before taking up her current position at Gagasi FM.

With a list of valuable work experience under her belt, Biyela says her new position as account executive at Gagasi FM differs from all previous positions she has held. “It is an exciting venture for me, as I am now responsible for achieving sales targets, managing new business, client retention, managing customer relationships as well as general administration,” she adds.

When she is not at work, one will find her reading or posting on her soon-to-be blog, which is one of her favourite leisure activities. Biyela says that her most memorable trip, having never left South Africa, was going on the Sinfonia Sea Cruise with a group of friends. “I got the opportunity to take a day trip around Mozambique and visit some of their heritage sites. It was an amazing experience,” she says.

Currently studying towards a BA in Communication Science, a future dream of Biyela is to one day get into research.
