The month of February sees the premiere of SABC2's new sitcom Ke Ba Boleletse. The Sotho sitcom will start on Saturday, 7 February at 20:00 and replaces Wipe Out.
The story takes place in a well-groomed four-roomed corner house, in Tumahole Parys, Sotho Section. A seemingly average and extended family that live in one household. Mudala, who is the heart of the story and main comic narrator of the series, is always sitting on the stoep in his rocking chair, making comments and guiding viewers through life in the house. He is the voice that humbly tells the story of how South Africa evolved into democracy. Everything about Mudala is reminiscent of the humor of when things go wrong.
Mudala tries desperately to keep his family together, but with a son who is an ex-convict who has been given a church to run, what are the chances that the flock is safe? Mokoena was arrested for fraud, but he tells people that he is political prisoner. His wife Tshidi is an ex-beauty queen and still stuck on that idea. They have two children: Potsotso, who is a closet homosexual, and Pinky who lives with her boyfriend Dibaba in the garage - which also serves as a salon - of the family home.
"The cast includes the big names in the industry especially in the sitcom [and] comedy circles. We have some familiar faces, and it has a nostalgic feel which represents different generations and time and looks like it is at a standstill. This community is very small whereby everyone knows each other. We trust that the viewers will certainly enjoy the sitcom” said Lebo Malete, publicist for SABC2.
The cast includes Mpho Malatsi, Elizabeth Serunye, Moliehi Makobane, Rantsatsi Rantsatsi, Tau Maserumule and Sam Phillips.
The show is directed by Adze Ugah, Bonga, Mosese Semenya and Brenda Mukwevho with Sinini Mati as executive producer.
