Comprising three hot new artists from Africa and three new artists from the UK, the category will see Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Mz Vee (Ghana) go up against George The Poet (UK), MIC Lowry (UK) and Novelist (UK).

Fans can vote for their favourite new artist here and on Instagram using the hashtag #ipick. Voting is currently open and will close on Saturday, 27 June at 01:00 CAT.

The BET Awards
2015 will premiere across Africa on BET (channel 129 on DStv) and BET2 (channel 135 on DStv) on Tuesday, 30 June at 20:10 CAT.

BET previously revealed that talented actors, comedic geniuses and on-screen co-stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross will be unleashing the good times as hosts of the 2015 BET Awards, taking place on Sunday, 28 June at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

The BET Awards recognises artists, entertainers, and athletes across 20 categories with the BET Awards 2015 nominations. The nominations are selected by BET’s Voting Academy, which is comprised of fans and an esteemed group of entertainment professionals in the fields of television, film, music, social media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and the creative arts.

Eight contemporary African artists have previously been nominated for Best International Act: Africa at the prestigious awards ceremony. Representing Africa are AKA (South Africa), The Soil (South Africa), Wizkid (Nigeria), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Sarkodie (Ghana), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Fally Ipupa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Sauti Sol (Kenya). In addition, Tanzanian supermodel Millen Magese has been awarded the inaugural Global Good Award in recognition of her philanthropic efforts in Africa.
