“I am shaking right now … can’t believe this. Thank you Free State. Thank you Mzansi,” says Kaybee, after being crowned winner during the show’s live finale which aired on Friday, 16 October. The judges, DJ Spectacular, DJ Naves, and season one winner DJ Mshega, decided to waive their voting rights on the night, thus allowing the public vote to determine the winner.

Kaybee walks away with more than R10-million in music production, studio recording hardware and software, the opportunity to compile his own album for local and international release, and he takes home a legion of other prizes.

The second season’s runner-ups are Zola Emo Boys and DP Man.

“The talent and level of performance in season two exceeded our high expectations and again, new ground was broken. We are proud to be part of this wonderful entertainment platform that not only provides opportunities for South African DJ’s and producers, but continues to provide our viewers with a highly entertaining look at the reality of the South African music and entertainment industry,” says the show’s producer, Jayson Faber.

“We continue to improve the quality and value of the show, whilst endeavouring to broaden the opportunities and exposure for South Africa’s vast and far-reaching undiscovered talents. Thank you to all the viewers, contestants, celebrity guests and contributors who played invaluable roles in the success of 1’s and 2’s," Faber adds.

1’s and 2’s is a platform created for young South Africans to develop their talent into a successful career, and the music reality show continues to transform the lives of many aspirant Mzansi music makers.
