With 13 years' worth of experience in environmental and social management in Africa, Karen Potgieter joins SolarAfrica as its compliance manager.

She holds a bachelor of science in environmental science and management (honours) and a bachelor of commerce in environmental management from North-West University.

With a passion for environmental projects that supports global ESG criteria, Potgieter's experience ensures that SolarAfrica can operate while being continuous stewards of sustainability.

Potgieter has led numerous environmental projects across Africa and possesses thorough knowledge of the prevailing environmental permitting frameworks in the various countries where she has worked.

Sakhile Ngcongwane brings his business experience to SolarAfrica as a product development specialist. Sakhile holds a bachelor of science in biomedical science, a bachelor of science (honours) in energy studies and a master of management in energy leadership.

With a keen interest in renewable energy and climate change, Ngcongwane strives to find opportunities to develop progressively innovative strategies that combine meaningful stakeholder engagement with sound data analysis and the appropriate product mix to achieve sustainable growth for SolarAfrica. This is while contributing to positive social and environmental impact.

Ngcongwane played a leading role in installing the first solar PV-powered electric vehicle charging station in 2020 and also received the Doug Banks Renewable Energy Vision Trust Scholarship in the same year.

Mihlava Manyike brings her experience in strategic buying, procurement and supply chain management to join SolarAfrica as a procurement and logistics manager. She holds a diploma in Level 4 from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, as well as a diploma in Logistics from the University of Johannesburg.

Specialising in the development, implementation and maintenance of procurement systems, Manyike takes charge of functions such as sourcing, pricing, preferential procurement, cost savings and procurement project management to effectively streamline and optimise SolarAfrica’s overall procurement and supply operations.

Mihlava continues to study while growing the supply chain functionality of the business to meet growing demands.

SolarAfrica says that new additions to the SolarAfrica team will play an instrumental role in its ability to continue the journey to becoming the leading solar financing company in South Africa, well beyond 2022.
