As winter grips North India with biting cold, Go Spiritual and Approach Entertainment have embarked on a blanket donation campaign to aid the homeless and underprivileged. This initiative, aimed at providing essential warmth to those living on the streets, underscores the dire need for collective action during the harsh winter months.
According to Go Spiritual and Approach Entertainment, the campaign focuses on distributing blankets, warm clothing and food across North India's major cities, including Delhi, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Shimla, Ludhiana, Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad.
With increasing homelessness and the devastating impact of extreme winters, the campaign aspires to save lives and bring hope to the destitute, says the duo.
A Legacy of Compassion Since 2017
Go Spiritual has been spearheading this initiative since 2017, aligning its efforts with its overarching mission of spiritual awareness and philanthropy. By leveraging its network of volunteers and engaging spiritual communities, the organisation says that it seeks to amplify its reach and inspire others to join this cause.
In a bid to maximise the campaign's impact, Approach Communications, the PR and integrated communications wing of Approach Entertainment, is managing the public relations and digital outreach. Meanwhile, Approach Entertainment is creating impactful videos, involving celebrities and influencers and organising awareness events to gather widespread support.
A Call to Action: Help Us Blanket North India With Warmth
Sonu Tyagi, Founder of Go Spiritual and Approach Entertainment, says, "Amidst the biting winter chill, our commitment to compassion and service remains unwavering. The blanket donation campaign stands not just as an initiative but a testament to our collective responsibility towards the less fortunate. Together with Approach Entertainment and Go Spiritual dedicated volunteers, we aim to blanket North India with warmth and hope, touching lives and saving souls. Let us extend our hands, hearts and resources to make this winter a season of giving and healing for those in need."
The duo invites individuals and organisations to:
- donate blankets, warm clothing, or food
- volunteer time and resources, and
- organise local distribution drives to assist as many as possible.
Stark Reality: The Plight of the Homeless During Winters
NGOs and independent reports highlight the alarming statistics of winter-related deaths in India. In 2021, over 512 people succumbed to the cold in Delhi alone. In 2023, an average of nine people lost their lives every day due to the cold on the streets of Delhi. The estimated homeless population of India exceeds 26 crores, with North India bearing the brunt of extreme winter hardships, says the duo.
According to Go Spiritual and Approach Entertainment, this campaign aims to address these challenges by providing immediate relief to the homeless, particularly in urban areas where the lack of shelter magnifies the struggle.
Extending the Spirit of Giving
Go Spiritual has a history of charitable initiatives, including extensive food distribution drives during the lockdown. The organisation's commitment to spirituality through service is rooted in ancient Hindu scriptures, which advocate for compassion and giving as integral to spiritual growth, says the duo.
The duo concludes that Go Spiritual has already taken significant steps to expand its philanthropic endeavours by launching a digital news magazine under the same name, Go Spiritual. To further its mission of raising awareness and inspiring action, the organisation is also preparing to launch a dedicated Web TV & OTT platform. Additionally, plans are underway to introduce the Go Spiritual News Magazine app soon.
