Liberty Promenade has handed over stationery packs to 80 Grade 3 learners at Mitchells Plain Primary School. This initiative, made possible through proceeds from the mall's 'Festive Gingerbread Workshops,' is helping young students start the school year equipped for success as they prepare for their Annual National Assessments.
Held from Friday, 13 to Tuesday, 24 December, the 'Festive Gingerbread Workshop' at Promenade received an overwhelming response from the community, with participation soaring by 73% compared to the previous year, says the mall.
This growth enabled Liberty Promenade to more than double the number of students sponsored this year. Every Rand contributed has been used to provide essential school supplies, ensuring that learners from financially challenged households have the tools they need for the year ahead, adds Liberty Promenade.
Each stationery pack includes essential items such as pencils, erasers, rulers and glue sticks, equipping young learners as they embark on their academic journey. To ensure the greatest impact, Liberty Promenade says that it invited its shoppers to nominate a school where learners could truly benefit. Based on the feedback received, Mitchells Plain Primary School was selected as the recipient of this year's donation.
"We are incredibly grateful to every shopper who participated in our 'Festive Gingerbread Workshop' campaign," says Brenda Bibby, General Manager of Liberty Promenade. "Thanks to their generosity, we've been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young learners, giving them the resources they need to help them thrive in the classroom."
Liberty Promenade concludes that it remains committed to uplifting its extended community and looks forward to continuing initiatives that bring real value to local families.
