Back in the day, PRs' focus was to get their news shared in print media; however, now that everything and everyone is online, PRs need to shift their focus as well.

Digital PR is a marketing strategy used by marketers and public relations experts to enhance the online visibility of a brand or individual.

More often than not, people find and come in contact with brands and businesses online — be it blogs, social media platforms, or a Google search. This means that PRs can no longer solely rely on traditional media forums to share their messages.

Digital PR has two main goals:

  1. Boosting Brand Visibility: The more people who are aware of your brand online, the more likely you are to have new clients.

  2. Establishing Trust With Your Audience: Building a positive and credible brand image online will aid in turning prospective clients into loyal ones.

So, what exactly does digital PR involve? Well, a digital PR specialist will use a combination of traditional PR while focusing on SEO, content marketing and social media marketing.

This involves:

  • creating and drafting press releases

  • cultivating connections with online journalists

  • coordinating online reviews and interviews

  • optimising press releases with pertinent links to your website

  • leveraging influencer marketing and blogger outreach to form partnerships or secure mentions on prominent social media platforms and blogs, and

  • posting online content to enhance reputation and acquire high-quality backlinks.
