If you were inspired by the wonderful mind of Dr Seuss, then read on as media update's Saads Abrahams gives you six things that marketers in particular can learn from this epic author:

For those who were avid readers from a young age, Dr Seuss's books would most likely have been on your bookshelves. And, as we know, he always had some words of wisdom to spread! You must be thinking, "But what does Dr Seuss have to do with marketing?"

Well dear reader, here's how the superb mind of Dr Seuss can help you be a better marketer:

Would you like to build your brand?
I do not like this, marketer-I-am.
I do not like learning how to build my brand.
You do not want it. So you say.
Try them! Try them! And you may.
Try them and you may, I say.
media update! If you let me be,
I will try them. You will see.
Say! I like learning how to build my brand!
I do! I like it, marketer-I-am!
I do so like learning how to build my brand!
Thank you! Thank you, marketer I am.

1. "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

This beautiful quote from I Can Read with My Eyes Shut! applies more to marketing than you would think.

If you as a marketer do not read and learn about all the new ways to market and all the tools your brand can use to market, then how can you possibly push your brand to new heights?

So, dive right into those new trends and spaces, and see where they take you!

2. "Wherever you fly, you'll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest. Except when you don't. Because, sometimes, you won't."

Oh, The Places You'll Go! This profound little quote is something that all marketers need to remember: Not every marketing tip and trick that you try will work. Sometimes they will and sometimes they won't.

What does it teach us? It is essential to test. One area to do this is with campaigns before you roll out a huge marketing operation. This will save you time, money and effort.

3. "How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness, how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"

As a marketer, planning and having a marketing schedule is imperative to being successful.

Having your hand in many pots comes with the territory; however, by not having a schedule, things are going to fall between the cracks. Before you know it, you are drowning in your projects with no escape in sight.

Try to set specific goals and draw up simple marketing plans. Try to not let your emotions empower your reactions. And above all else, never be afraid to ask for help.

4. "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

Marketers can take a page out of The Lorax, as you need to place a lot of care on your projects — more than anyone else in the team.

If you are not going to put your heart into your work, it is going to show in the results.

How can marketers go about implementing this going forward?
  1. Choose your projects wisely.
  2. Keep yourself motivated throughout.
  3. Ask for help if you need it.

5. "Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You."

Your company and brand is unique, and that's all because of you! Your marketing campaigns need to be unique as well, as it's all good and dandy to hop on trends.

However, you need to make sure that you have your own unique campaigns that set trends as well — like adding some green eggs with your ham.

A way to do this is by creating a culture of innovation. Get ideas from fellow employees, you never know who might have a brilliant and unique idea up their sleeve!

6."A person's a person, no matter how small."

This is a popular quote from Horton Hears a Who. These words need to be applied in everyone's personal life — and more so in their marketing career.

All your clients matter, no matter how big or small the client. They all need your respect and dedication.

What does this mean for the marketer? Always give your 100% best in all your work.
