The 2024 awards invite content creators from across South Africa to submit their most compelling videos that showcase what it means to be unmistakably African. Whether it's through art, fashion, travel, food, or any other medium, creators are encouraged to let their creativity soar.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of R20 000, along with the distinction of being the first-ever recipient of this prestigious award, says the DStv Content Creator Awards.

"At Amarula, we believe that Africa's spirit is one of unparalleled optimism and rich cultural diversity. The marula fruit is itself a vessel of infectious African energy that inspires positivity," says Maisha Mamabolo, brand manager of white spirits and liqueurs at Heineken Beverages.

"The Spirit of Africa Award is more than just a category; it's a celebration of the storytellers who bring this ray of sunshine to life in ways that inspire and connect us all. We're excited to see how content creators across South Africa will interpret and showcase what makes our continent so extraordinary," says Mamabolo.

According to the DStv Content Creator Awards, to enter, participants must submit a video up to two minutes long that captures the essence of what it means to be African.

Submissions must include the following hashtags:

  • #AmarulaAfricanGin
  • #SpiritOfAfrica, and
  • #DStvCCA.

The awards say that submissions are open exclusively to South African residents. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, 24 September.

The 2024 DStv Content Creator Awards concludes that it takes place on Saturday, 12 October in Johannesburg and tickets for the 2024 awards go on sale soon.
