Organised by Nicarela Charity, this year's market aims to be the most exciting one yet, featuring over 80 craft stalls, 15 food experiences and a host of entertainment for the entire family, says the NPO.

From the champagne and oyster bar to artisanal foods and handmade gifts, visitors have many choices as they browse, shop and celebrate the season. The children's zone offers far more than jumping castles — children enjoy a silent movie experience on Friday night, interactive play areas and family activities throughout the weekend, says the NPO.

Aiming to add to the vibrant atmosphere, the market features live performances by local bands, youth jazz groups, school choirs and community artists. And for sports fans, the Springbok vs Ireland rugby match is screened in the beer tent on Saturday, making it a weekend where everyone can find something to enjoy, adds the NPO.

Market hours and entry:

  • Friday, 21 November: 15:00 to 22:00.
  • Saturday, 22 November: 10:00 to 22:00.
  • Sunday, 23 November: 10:00 to 16:00.
  • Entrance: R60 for adults (children enter free).

For 16 years, Nicarela Charity has aimed to be at the heart of community upliftment, distributing nearly R8-million to beneficiaries across Johannesburg — all through volunteer commitment and community support. What began as a small neighbourhood event with 1 000 visitors has grown into an annual attraction drawing over 6 000 attendees in one weekend, says the NPO.

"The collective effort from everyone involved is truly inspiring. Volunteers, local schools, residents and businesses have all played a role, and we deeply appreciate their dedication and support. Events like this Market show how powerful community spirit can be," says Daneel Jordaan, Chairman of Nicarela Charity.

Proceeds from the Market support a range of deserving organisations, including Guild Cottage, Bethany House Foundation, The Living Link, REEA Foundation, and MES. Nicarela also funds bursaries for Parktown High School for Girls, aiming to extend its reach to youth development and education, says the NPO.

"The Parkview Charity Christmas Market embodies the generosity and warmth that make this community so special," adds Jordaan. "As we enter the festive season, we're reminded that every purchase, every donation and every act of kindness helps us make a tangible difference."

The Nicarela Charity encourages people to mark their calendars, bring their family and friends and join the Parkview community for a weekend of shopping, entertainment and giving back — all in the true spirit of Christmas, concludes the NPO.
