The graduation ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 31 March, from 10:00 to 12:30 at the De Aar Town Hall, marking the completion of a journey for the cohort.

Over the past 10 weeks, participants have worked to develop practical digital marketing and entrepreneurship skills designed to help them unlock new opportunities in the digital economy, says Digify GP.

The programme aimed to equip young people with knowledge in areas such as social media marketing, paid advertising, data-led decision making and digital entrepreneurship, empowering them to build sustainable livelihoods in an increasingly digital world.

The graduation also comes with news for the cohort and the wider De Aar community. One of the programme participants, Yolisa Magada, was selected to represent the Northern Cape at SA Innovation Week, which took place from Monday, 16 March to Friday, 20 March at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, adds Digify GP.

Magada joined other young innovators from across the province to pitch technology-driven ideas at the national event, aiming to showcasie the creativity and potential emerging from small towns like De Aar.

"Seeing the first Digify GPs cohort in De Aar embark on their journey has been incredibly inspiring. As a Project Manager, it's rewarding to witness these talented participants gaining skills, confidence and opportunities that will empower them to shape their futures. This is just the beginning of a journey filled with growth and possibilities," says Mpho Seoposengwe, Manager of Digify GP.

The graduation event will bring together programme participants, community members, partners and supporters to celebrate the achievements of the cohort and recognise the impact of digital skills training in local communities, adds Digify GP.

"At Longyuan, we are intentional about investing in programmes that create sustainable, long-term impact. Digital skills are no longer optional — they are essential to unlocking economic participation, especially in towns like De Aar. This programme is not just about training; it is about equipping young people with the tools to access opportunities, build livelihoods, and participate meaningfully in the digital economy," says Fay Cassim, SED Head of Longyuan.

"Seeing graduates like Yolisa step onto national platforms is exactly the kind of impact we aim to achieve. We are proud to support these initiatives that move communities forward in a sustainable and digitally inclusive way," adds Cassim.

For many of the graduates, the programme aims to represent more than just a course by being a stepping stone towards employment, entrepreneurship and a future shaped by digital opportunity, says Digify GP.

Members of the media and community stakeholders are invited to attend and witness the graduation of the De Aar cohort as they take their next steps into the digital economy.
