As an urban festival, the screenings will be taking place at a host of venues. The
Joburg Film Festival and its partner, Ster Kinekor, will host screenings at The Zone at Rosebank, Maponya Mall, and Newton Junction.

Joburg Film Festival is driven by a motivation to rekindle the love of cinema by contributing to the revival of important and historic venues.
Historical cinema-house, The Majestic, once a crown jewel of movie culture in Fordsburg and now operating as a church, will host screenings including
We’ve Never Been Kids on Saturday, 29 October, the
African American Shorts Package on Sunday, 29 October, and
Clash and
Mali Blues on Saturday, 5 November.
Kings Cinema in Alexandra is another classic venue that will play host to
Joburg Film Festival events. Kings Cinema is the oldest movie theatre in Alexandra Township and has 500 seats that will host guests for screenings including
Love and Kwaito on Friday, 4 November.
One of the most exciting screening events of the
Joburg Film Festival will take place in the courtyard of Constitution Hill on Thursday, 3 November.
Joburg Film Festival in partnership with
The Mzansi Women’s Film Festival (MWFF), will see the screening of the classic 1966 Ousmane Sembène film,
Black Girl, that tells the story of a Senegalese girl working as a maid for a French couple.
