The event saw the gathering of journalists, producers, presenters, and actors to commemorate and celebrate the responsible work they do in informing, educating, and entertaining South Africans.
The annual media awards are presented to those individuals who deliver an outstanding contribution towards the Afrikaans language, in the media segment, during the course of a specific period. Each category prize winner receives a cash prize and a trophy.
RSG presenters and programme makers won in the following categories within the Listen (Radio) Section:
- Best presenter or interviewer of a journal program: Martelize Brink for her feature on Yolande Korkie in Oggend op RSG;
- Best insert in a journal program: Johan van Lill for his insert on Die Luxurama in RSG’s Arts Festival morning programme;
- Best presenter or interviewer of a news- or actuality program: Ivor Price and Anita Visser for their co-presenting of Monitor;
- Best insert in a news- or actuality program: Izak du Plessis and Melissa Tighy for their insert on Lambertsbaai se vissers in Monitor;
- Best journal program: Martelize Brink for the programme Seks en jy on RSG;
- Best news- or actuality program: Suzanne Paxton for Aardklopgespreksreeks Alzheimers in Spektrum;
- Best documentary or program series: Christelle van Tonder for Jonk, swart en Afrikaans on RSG;
- Best insert in an educational program: Johan van Lill for Ons en die onderwys: Tegnologie in die klaskamer on RSG;
- Best text for a radio drama or –theatre: Martyn le Roux for Dagboek van ‘n wurm on RSG;
- Best producer of a radio drama or –theatre: Renske Jacobs for Dagboek van ‘n wurm on RSG;
- Best actress in a radio drama or –theatre: June van Merch for Sarah Baartman on RSG; and
- Best actor in a radio drama or –theatre: Paul Lückhoff for Dagboek van ‘n wurm on RSG.
