VIA adds new TV shows to its channel

One show is a spin-off of Kom ons braai, titled Kom ons braai: familie en vriende. This weekly series starts on Tuesday, 25 July at 19:30.

Other series to look forward to are:

• Sien jou in New York – Cobus Gauche, who became known as the Tekkies presenter, now lives in New York. Along with chef Hugo Uys and other South African friends, they cook meals and share memories. Sien jou in New York will broadcast every Wednesday from Wednesday, 5 July, with repeats on Saturdays at 21:00;
• Betty Bangles en die dossers – Bernard, a stylist by day and a drag artist known as Betty Bangles by night, is on a mission. Her dream is to transform three Johannesburg aspiring drag artists into the queens they were meant to be. The aim is to see if one of Betty Bangles’ queens can win the Miss Pink Mardi Gras in Knysna. Betty Bangles en die dossers starts on Friday, 7 July at 21:00 and will be repeated at 22:00 on Saturdays;
• Goed, beter, Bertus – From Tuesday, 11 July at 18:00, the chef and restaurateur, Bertus Basson, invites audiences into his kitchens to share recipes, culinary secrets, and stories from his life in food. Goed, beter, Bertus is repeated on Sundays at 17:30;
• Wie’s jou poppie? – Former Miss South Africa and TV presenter, Melinda Bam, is determined to show she is not a typical Pretoria 'poppie'. In each episode, Bam and a well-known guest take on a new challenge to prove how tough they are. Wie’s jou poppie? starts Wednesday, 12 July at 20:30 and is repeated on Sundays at 18:30;
• Bak of Brou – Led by Rapport’s food editor and food blogger, Anel Potgieter, bakers compete and give celebrities their dream cake on Bak of Brou. Starting on Monday, 17 July, the show will air weekly at 21:00 and repeat at 13:30 on Saturdays;
• Waar begin ek soek? – Leone Erasmus helps people find their biological family. The series will broadcast weekly from Wednesday, 19 July at 21:00, with repeats on Sundays at 22:00; and
• Huisgenoot: Ware lewensdramas – This series takes print media to television and revisits the biggest stories from the South African magazine. The unique series starts on Thursday, 27 July at 20:30 and repeats on Sundays at 20:30.

Brand new series of old TV shows will also be broadcasting:

• My droom-trourok – On season six, designer Diaan Daniels ensures that brides have the perfect dress for their wedding day. Season six starts on Wednesday, 5 July at 05:30 and will be repeated on Saturdays at 14:00;
• Vrydag 4 uur – Dirk and Alti are ready for the sixth season of the award-winning series. Every weekend, the couple will set off on a new journey in search of adventure, scenery, music, and people. The series starts on Friday, 7 July at 17:00. Repeats are broadcast on Sundays at 20:30;
• My plek of joune – A stylist and a handyman help resolve housemates’ aesthetic differences, and a coin toss will determine which housemate will be given the chance to makeover a shared living space with the help of the My plek of joune team. The series starts on Tuesday, 11 July at 17:30 with repeats on Sunday at 18:00;
• Jy het ‘n wenresep! – Three aspiring chefs compete so that Huisgenoot food editor, Carmen Niehaus, can crown one of their dishes a Wenresep to be featured in the magazine. The fifth season of Jy het ‘n wenresep! starts on Wednesday, 12 July at 18:30 with a repeat on Sundays at 17:00;
• On Pasgetroud – cameras follow couples to the pulpit to see if their wish lists for their wedding day come true. The sixth season starts on Tuesday, 25 July at 20:30, with repeats at 21:30 on Sundays; and
• Laat die potte prut – Back for a fourth season, chefs Frik Oosthuizen and Piet Marais continue their search for the best potjiekos cooks in South Africa. The series premieres on Monday, 31 July at 20:30 and is repeated on Saturdays at 18:00.
