Spotong informs township traders across South Africa, reaching more than 35 000 township traders, who have an estimated combined monthly spend of R450-million, on stock and products for their businesses.
These entrepreneurs have been serving millions of consumers in their communities for decades and provide an opportunity for brands to interact with township consumers.
The Spotong Women in Business event provides an invaluable platform to engage, one-on-one, with dynamic and influential female township entrepreneurs – the driving force behind township economies.
On the day, women will be participating in inspirational talks from industry leaders, give-aways, and they will have a chance to interact with the trade exhibitors that will be on show. The event pays tribute and celebrates proactive, ambitious, and inspirational women who connect and empower the township community as a whole.
Sean Press, CEO of contact media and communications, says, "As Spotong Magazine, we are looking forward to another very successful and inspiring event and we would like to offer potential sponsors the opportunity to engage directly with township entrepreneurs. We look forward to working with brands that want to make a social impact in the communities in which they operate while having the benefit of driving key marketing initiatives as well."
The event, which will take place in Orlando, Soweto, includes headline sponsor LegalWise, as well as Spotong’s vehicle partner, Mahindra. Other sponsors include Club 10, Ricoffy Instant Coffee, British American Tobacco South Africa (BAT), and Soweto Television, Spotong's official television media partner.
Every event supplier has been sourced from the local township community, ensuring that the event not only impacts the 800 invited guests but their local communities as well.
Orlando Community Hall is to be filled with hundreds of success stories from the women who sustain families, and extended families, through the taverns, shebeens, spaza shops, B&Bs and Shisanyamas that they run. Spotong Magazine and all event partners look forward to hosting another successful day in Soweto.
