Tlhabi is an advocate for women’s rights and female empowerment. She participated in the miniskirt march and the march to the Union Buildings in solidarity with students in the '#FeesMustFall' campaign. She also wrote a book, titled Khwezi: The remarkable story of Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo
