Editor-in-chief Piet Smedy, who has been at the title's helm since the August issue, says, "House & Garden has been the design authority in South Africa and on the African continent for the past 22 years."

"We aim to continue that and further grow the publication's influence by drawing on Condé Nast's extensive global network — including Architectural Digest, Vogue Living and The World of Interiors — to bring our discerning readers even more relevant content from the top names in the industry," adds Smedy.

"I am honoured to be able to steer the next chapter of this publication's development, and with this first issue of 2020, we represent our commitment to bringing readers all the news for this exciting next decade of design," says Smedy.

Over the past few months, Smedy and his team have worked with some of South Africa's biggest names who have been on the magazine's covers. These have included Maps Maponyane, Lorna Maseko and the Weylandt family. The editions aimed to offer readers a look into their private lives.

Content Nation Media CEO Mbuso Khoza says, "Under Piet's sharp, creative and forward-thinking leadership, House & Garden has become the beacon of innovation in the home interest magazine sector."

"Piet has been very bold in pushing the creative envelope over the past few months, enabling the House & Garden brand to become more accessible and relatable, without losing its prestige. I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing what will unfold in the months and years to come," concludes Khoza.

The new logo appears on House & Garden's January / February issue, which focuses on the biggest game-changers in local and international design, as well as new directions in design, decor, art and architecture in 2020.

The January / February issue of House & Garden is on sale from Monday, 30 December.
