Mofokeng is a former entertainment journalist and editor who worked for the
Sunday Times,
City Press and
Sowetan newspapers in his 21-year long career.
He is also a published author of several books, as well as a popular-culture commentator who has featured on radio stations and TV programmes.
According to the awards, Mofokeng has served as a judge for the
SAMA for years and he brings a good understanding of the industry and the processes involved.
"It is an incredible honour for the
SAMA to entrust me with this responsibility," says Mofokeng. "I have long been passionate about the local entertainment industry, especially music, and I look forward to working with the teams behind
SAMA26 to make it a success."
