The event returns to national television on Saturday, 21 March, and SABC 1 will once again partner with the music and lifestyle event — bringing this South African open-air experience to television screens across the country. DJ Sabby also returns to hosting the event, but this time in a different city, says the duo.

Following the broadcast of the Johannesburg edition, which saw SABC deliver the golden-hour experience into homes nationwide, the renewed collaboration sees the Cape Town broadcast marking the next chapter in extending the Corona Sunsets Festival onto the national stage, adds the duo.

Mtshali, who hosts Metro FM's, Best Mornings, show, also known for hosting South African award shows such as the South African Music Awards, Metro FM Music Awards, SABC1's New Year's Eve Last Dance and Back To The City music festival, aiming to bring his knowledge of music and live broadcasting to the festival stage, says the duo.

"Returning to host the Corona Sunsets Festival in Cape Town feels like a full-circle moment. Coming back to a stage that celebrates organic energy, music, being in the moment, connection and reuniting with Hope Mbhele after hosting the Metro FM Awards nominations event in Durban makes it even more meaningful," says Mtshali.

The Corona Sunsets Festival will see headline performances from Grammy Award-winners Purple Disco Machine and Zakes Bantwini, alongside Sun-El Musician, Msaki, DJ Kent, Liquideep, Mila-Rose, Blakongo, Roz b2b Housewife, Meek and a sunset performance by the Ndlovu Youth Choir, adds the duo.

More than a music showcase, the SABC 1 special aims to immerse viewers in the festival's "Sunset Moment", aerial performances, immersive art installations and its "More Than Music" offering — including curated wellness experiences, creative expression spaces, drum circles and sustainable food activations that aim to extend the experience beyond the stage, says the duo.

The collaboration with Corona aims to reinforce SABC 1's role in shaping live entertainment experiences for national audiences, says the duo.

With the upcoming Cape Town edition, the broadcast aims to build on Johannesburg's televised edition, and aims to position the Corona Sunsets Festival not only as a live event, but as a cultural television moment — where performance, atmosphere and audience come together on a national stage, concludes the duo.
